There seems to be an issue with Smart Coupons extension and the theme. I can create a coupon add coupons through subscriptions but i cannot make a gift certificate coupon that can be added to the cart. I also had the Smart Coupon people go into the site and try and they were not able to but they can with a different theme. I need this resolved as soon as possible please.

    Hello,

Could you please clarify how we replicate that problem from our side?

    Thank you.

I downloaded Smart Coupons extensions for WooCommerce.
Went to WooCommerce -> Coupons and set up a coupon with store credit/gift certificate via options
clicked on “Pick Product’s Price?” to allow costumer to add their own amount. [saved]

Went to Products -> Add Product
Created a product called “Gift Certificate”
Under General / Coupons i added the coupon name “gift certificate” the clicked “publish”

When i look at the published page all i see is the place where an image would be, the add to cart button, and the title of “The Main Dish” which i use for my regular products (should not show for coupons).

When i click on “Add to Cart” a pop up appears saying “product added to cart” but no option whatsoever to add any price or the such, not even on the product page itself.
When i check cart there is nothing (probably because there is no price.

    Hello,

I’ve added a price for the product http://www.readysetenjoy.com/product/gift-certificate-2/ and inserted the coupon name in general settings for the product.
    Please check it now.

    Thank you.

Thats not what i want, i can add a price to any product even a gift certificate but the reason i purchased Smart Coupons was because it is able to allow the costumer to put in their own price for the Gift Certificate.

Thats what this option does (supposed to do): “Pick Product’s Price?”

As i stated earlier if i were to do it in Genesis Theme there would be a box next to the “add to cart” button that would allow a costumer to put any price they choose for the gift certificate.

Just like i thought but hope i was wrong regarding your support system. Here is what i got as a response:

    Hello,
we are sorry but ‘Smart Coupons’ plugin was not fully tested and is not officially supported by our theme. Please contact plugin developer for assistance.

    Regards, 8theme Ltd.

So because someone at 8theme doesn’t want to look into it it gets passed on to the plugin developer but the plugin developer tells me to speak to the theme developer. Real nice!

Now this is what i got from woothemes and the plugin developer:

    Hi Sergio,

So this is definitely a responsibility of the theme because your theme is trying to be WooCommerce compatible and not the other way around. So if your theme is not following the WooCommerce standards, then it is not a true WooCommerce compatible theme. Another words, we don’t claim to be 8theme compatible but your theme does claim to be WooCommerce compatible. You can see it states it here http://cld.wthms.co/1eVae

    Hello,

Could you, please, ask plugin author what WooCommerce hooks were used and we’ll add them in our theme?
After that provide FTP access, so we’ll be able to fix this issue.

Our theme (and any other custom theme) isn’t compatible with all third-party extensions by default even if it’s WooCommerce compatible. You often (not always) need to customize theme or extension to make it work properly together. It’s impossible for theme author to make the theme compatible with all existing extensions. Only default theme is compatible with all third-party extensions. Thank you for your understanding.

he said all the hooks used are in the file woocommerce-smart-coupons/woocommerce-smart-coupons.php

I will copy and paste the content in the private section bellow. Do you need FTP access or would access to the website itself suffice? I really don’t know how to give you FTP access.

Thank you Olga for the all the work and i see that now a costumer can add their own price but something is still missing as it does not add it to the cart. When i click on the “Add to Cart” button a notice shows up stating that it was “successfully added” but when i check the cart it is empty. Also, i see that you made a child theme, there is a file called readysetenjoy.php in the actual theme files and there where some things changed in the theme files as well, i hope they don’t get lost as i already had to replace some css that disappeared. The one issue i am having now though is the Social Sharing, when someone clicks on the FaceBook share some images are the featured image others are the thumbs (i think that has to do with FB Open Graph thought) but the descriptions where correct before adding the child theme, now i get latin jumble on some and correct description on others. (The latin info comes from the side panel btw)

I am having similar problems trying to use a similar free plugin to accomplish creating gift cards and then adding the code in the cart. Having not been able to solve it with the free plugin “Gift Cards” (WooCommerce), I was going to purchase Smart Coupons tonight (for the Legenda theme), but realize there is a similar problem. I will be watching this thread to try and find a solution.

Apparently the issue was with a missing hook Cory. Not sure exactly where, as they went in and fixed it for me, but hopefully they will post it here so you won’t have to wait for a theme update.

Olga, have you had a chance to look into why the gift card product is not being added to the cart yet?

    Hello, @Surgeprotector

    Sorry for delay.
I have checked and want to say that problem related to your changes in template file theleader/woocommerce/global/quantity-input.php. I have revert back the old one and everything works fine.
Your site looks very nice, but, please, if you want to make any changes you need to do them in child theme to be able:
    1) update theme to latest version in future and save your changes
    2) don’t break main theme
    I have added
.single_variation_wrap .quantity-box {display: none;}in child theme style.css to hide input for your variable products.

About your facebook problem. Try to flush fb cache and check if it fix your issue https://www.8theme.com/knowledge-base/clearing-facebooks-share-cache/

    Hello, @Cory Kent,

Try to disable Ajax add to cart in Theme Options > Single Product Page. As a rule if you want to use such plugin as Smart Coupons this option should be disabled.

To fix Surgeprotector issue we just added woocommerce hook
    <?php do_action( ‘woocommerce_single_product_summary’ ); ?>
in theleader/woocommerce/content-single-product.php , because plugin uses it to display Purchase Credit worth.

    Hello @Surgeprotector,

    You’re welcome.
Concerning the child theme you can read WordPress documentation how to create it:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

    Thank you.
