Hello.
I created a top banner in static block with dynamic image
https://tinyurl.com/2d6pwybs
then inserted the shortcode in category description.
https://tinyurl.com/237vjhhm
Problem is, the banner is not showing ok if opened from a shop sidebar. If I open it from “All departments” dopdown menu it is showing ok, even if it is the same link.

When I open it from shop sidebar, it’s still showing me header image from previous category.
If I open office chairs (Pisarniski stoli) from header menu – https://tinyurl.com/2ykwsabe
If I open office chairs (Pisarniski stoli) from sidebar – https://tinyurl.com/2y6ap8nb
In incognito it does not show at all – https://tinyurl.com/25sfyn75
I have the same problem in all categories.
Seems like top image is not refreshing when clicking thru sidebar.

Dear @ziga32,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern. We have thoroughly reviewed the issue you reported and would like to explain the cause and suggest possible solutions.
When you access the page via the link in the header, you are correctly redirected, and the category image displays as intended. However, if you select the category link from the sidebar, only certain parts of the page are refreshed with AJAX based on the URL query. This occurs because the background image for the category, associated with the current product category, is styled with custom CSS using inline styles placed and loaded only once at the same top of the page. These styles are static and are not updated following an AJAX action.
To address this issue, we can offer the following solutions:
1. You may choose to deactivate the AJAX filters, which will ensure that the page fully refreshes upon clicking, displaying the correct banner for each category.
2. Alternatively, you can request additional customization by submitting a request through our customization panel: https://www.8theme.com/account/#etheme_customization_panel.
We hope this information is helpful and we are eager to assist you in resolving this issue. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need further assistance.

thank you
If I choose to deactivate the AJAX filters, where can I do that and is there any downside to this?
Would it also work if instead of creating a static block with dynamic image, I created a different static block for each category?
Dear @ziga32,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to provide you with the necessary steps to deactivate the Ajax filters on your website. Please navigate to Theme Options -> WooCommerce -> Shop -> Shop Page Filters. You can access this section directly through the following link: https://prnt.sc/Hypow6ca9eHy.
Regarding your suggestion to create separate blocks for each category, it appears to be a viable solution. However, we recommend testing this approach with 2-3 categories initially before implementing it across all categories to ensure it functions as expected.
We are also pleased to inform you that we have explored an alternative method to implement your idea, which has proven successful. Instead of using a background image, we have incorporated a dynamically valued image of the category heading. You can view this update here: https://prnt.sc/eOBVYPn8mehG. Additionally, the heading in this section is absolutely positioned, allowing the section’s height to adjust based on the image of the current category. This new setup appears to enhance the functionality post-Ajax filtering compared to the previous method using a background image.
We have temporarily retained both the new and old sections on your website for your review. You can compare both versions and decide which one best meets your needs. The comparison can be viewed here: https://gyazo.com/dd7f65feb9949dcc3ca0f9c129c07f57.
Please take a moment to examine the updates and let us know which option you prefer. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are here to assist with any further adjustments.

Thank you very much. Your version works ok. But so does the one with disabled ajax filtering.
would you mind evaluating which approach would be better?

Dear @ziga32,
We hope this message finds you well.
Should you wish to incorporate the AJAX filters technique, we recommend retaining the second section we crafted. In our assessment, maintaining the second section would be advantageous, as it offers greater usability across various scenarios—including the potential deactivation of the AJAX filters. This option also presents more benefits compared to the first section, which does not integrate as seamlessly with the AJAX filters.
We trust this recommendation aligns with your needs and enhances your store’s functionality.

Hmm, It would appear that even your version is not workgin with ajax enabled.
https://dev.showroom.si/kategorija-izdelka/barski-stoli/
Dear @ziga32,
I hope this message finds you well.
We have noticed that the section we recently configured for you has been removed, and only the previously built section, which is non-functional with AJAX, remains. Our team had implemented this section using a simple image widget with dynamic src based on category, whereas your original section utilizes a background image type. Currently, only the section with a dynamic background from the category image appears to be displayed.
For testing purposes, we had initially left two sections on your site. The section we developed was tested with AJAX and was functioning correctly at that time.
Could you please confirm if the deletion was intentional, or if there are any specific modifications you require? We are here to assist you in resolving any issues or to reinstate the functional section if needed. Also, if you are able to install the backup of such section it would be beneficial for re-testing needs.

Jack Richardson

I deleted it intentionaly, but I deleted my section and not the one you built.
I put them both back now. I have both section saved in templates so you can delete them and see.
But right now only 1 section is showing on frontend 🙂
Hello @ziga32
We are sorry but we still see only one section you had before -> https://prnt.sc/bCEUTikqFpFJ. There are no sections that we created on your web-site for correct version of category image being displayed.
Should we create it for you again or maybe we are checking the wrong web-site ? It is really strange because even using the web-inspector on dev tools we are unable to see the hidden section yet.
Kind regards, Jack Richardson
sorry, I was looking at the wrong static block 🙁
working fine now. If I understand correctly that is a better solution than disabling ajax?
btw, why would it work ok with the image module and not as a background?
Dear @ziga32,
We have responded to your inquiry about the issues you are experiencing with the background image on your website. You can find a detailed explanation and potential solutions in our follow-up post here: https://www.8theme.com/topic/top-category-image-is-not-refreshing-when-clicking-thru-sidebar/#post-416606 (Screenshot: https://prnt.sc/TqnrCQYb1sAx).
As outlined, you have the option to revert to the previous version you created; however, please be aware that this may affect the functionality of AJAX. We recommend evaluating both options to determine which best suits your needs.
Should you require further assistance or have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I don’t know what ajax is that is why I’m asking.
but nevermind, will leave your option enabled, works great.
the only minor thing is, I can’t get this image to be full width on mobile
https://tinyurl.com/24o4laqr
Dear @ziga32,
We hope this message finds you well. For a comprehensive understanding of AJAX, we invite you to visit the following link: [AJAX on Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_(programming)). In essence, AJAX allows for parts of a webpage to update with new content without the need to refresh the entire page.
Regarding the image stretching issue, the configuration typically involves adjusting the margin settings of the image widget. We attempted to implement this adjustment for you; however, it appears that your Content Delivery Network (CDN) is currently active, which may affect these changes. You may choose to try adjusting these settings yourself, or if you prefer, you can maintain the current display, which we find visually appealing as it is.
Should you require further assistance or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards,
Jack Richardson

hmm, we are not using any CDN at all..
Dear @ziga32,
I hope this message finds you well.
Upon reviewing your website with the aid of Wappalyzer, we have confirmed that the CDN is currently active. You can view the details here: https://prnt.sc/15sCP8cjrLO_.
We kindly request that you contact your hosting provider to verify this on their end. Once confirmation is received, and should you still require assistance, we are more than willing to help adjust the image sizing for mobile devices to better suit your needs.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your prompt response.

Is there any trick to add a slight gradient overlay so titles would be visible ok, like I had on my first version?
Because here it’s barely visible
