Unable to Filter by Brand - by Andrew Holbrook

    Hi wondering if you could help. I can no longer filter by brand. This was previously working ok but not 100% sure when this stopped. If I add your widget to a page the brands show, but when you click it gives a page not found 404 error https://www.criticalenvironmentsolutions.co.uk/brand/berkshire/

    Hello,

    Try to resave settings in wp-admin panel > Settings > Permalinks.

    Do you have the same problem with parent theme or with Storefront theme?

    Please check now https://www.criticalenvironmentsolutions.co.uk/?brand=berkshire I’ve changed Permalinks > Common Settings > Plain. Seems there is the problem when selected another permalink type. I will send this topic to our developers to check this problem.

    Hi again Rose, although site working fine with plain permalink, I am receiving notification from both Yoast SEO and WP Rocket that my site optimisation could be affected by not having a custom permalink that shows the post name – how long would expect the development team to look at the issue?     Hello,

    Please provide wp-admin and FTP access in Private Content and we will fix it on your site, also it will be fixed in next theme update.

    I have tried the above but my website become unsecure and I was unable to log back into the admin, so I have replaced back to original.

    We can’t connect to your FTP.
    Do you have any limits for users from other countries?

    Hi Rose, I have no idea as the site is hosted by a third party. I am not aware of any restriction but I would need to put a ticket into support to check. I FTP very easily with the details provided using FileZilla. Maybe I just wait until a patch is released.

    In this case, you may wait for theme update.
    Or try one more time to fix the problem. I’ve sent portfolio.php file to your email. Please rename your current portfolio.php and upload new one, then select Permalinks > Common Settings > Post name and check the problem https://www.criticalenvironmentsolutions.co.uk/brand/berkshire/.
    In case the problem will be fixed, you may delete the old portfolio.php file, if it won’t help – delete new file and rename the file back. Let me know result.

    Hi Rose. I have carried out this change and unfortunately back to the page not found 404 error. I have therefore reversed everything and changed permalink back to plain. Thanks

    Hi Rose, This issue has generated additional problems as none of my google ads were running due to the change in url which explains why today’s web traffic has been so slow. My menu structure and drop down menus have custom urls with the post name therefore changing to a plain permalink prevented my menu structure from working. I have changed back to custom which means I’m back to the start with a brand filter that is not operating. Thanks

    In this case, we need to connect to your site via FTP, because the fix in portfolio.php file works fine on our test site. Contact your hosting provider and ask how the FTP connection problem for us can be solved. Is there firewall on your server that is blocking our IP?

    Hi Rose, It is a firewall issue and the host will require your IP address to allow access link: http://ip.me.uk/ It you could provide this I will get an FTP sorted, although this will be Monday now. Have a good weekend, Thanks

    Hi Rose I have just been in contact and they are telling that there is no caching enabled. I have cleared the cache using WP Rocket (not sure that helps) and I’m still getting a 404 error when I choose a brand filter.
