    Hi there,

I hope you can help me. Our client has recently updated their version of wordpress for their site and visual composer is not showing the backend of any pages leaving them unable to update or change their content.

The theme version of Royal that they are using is 1.5.1 and the version of wordpress thats currently installed is version 4.9.1.

I’m assuming because they have updated to the latest version of wordpress that the version of the theme that they are using is not compatible and that the latest version of the theme will have to be uploaded.

Are you able to help and guide me as to how to update the theme and the plugins?

Thank you for your help in advance.

    Looking forward to your reply.
    Thanks very much,
    Sami

    Hello,

Yes, you need to update theme and plugins to latest versions.
    Please follow our documentation https://www.8theme.com/demo/docs/royal/#!/installation_upgrade
https://www.8theme.com/download-plugins/ (https://www.8theme.com/faq/ – How to update plugins included in theme?).
Before uploading theme files delete “woocommerce” folder, which is located in wp-content/themes/royal/ to avoid problems with old files (it’ll be reuploaded from a new theme package).
Don’t forget to create backup of your files and database before starting update process!
You need to enter your purchase code to activate the theme and skip Setup Wizard.

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

    Regards

    Hi there,

As you know from my previous comments on this topic I have recently updated the theme and wordpress version on my clients site. Since completing this my client is finding that the site is very slow to load and she is unable to edit her site.

I have asked my hosting company to look in to this and they have come back saying that the server speed is fine and to ask you guys.

Can you shed any light on this issue please?

    Thanks very much,
    Sami

    Hello,

Please provide us with wp-admin access to the site with the speed problem so we could check the problem deeply.
Also, make sure that all required plugins are updated https://www.8theme.com/download-plugins/ (to update free plugins just click on update link from your Dashboard (Plugins > Installed Plugins); to update premium plugins, connect to your server using FTP. Copy extracted plugins folders into wp-content/plugins/ )

    Hello,

Unfortunately, we can’t even login to your site because it loading and loading and that’s all.
Can you, please, enable the default WP theme and check what page speed do you have with the default theme?

    Regards

    Hi there,

This is the problem – because of the speed I can’t login either.

Do you want FTP details to look in to this further?

    Thanks,
    Sami

    Hello,

You may rename royal theme folder via FTP and some default theme will be activated on your site (if you have several themes in wp-content/themes folder). Please try to do this > let us know result and provide FTP access in Private Content.

    Hi there,

I have been working closely with our hosting company these past couple of hours and we have both completed the steps you have provided. The site did not show any speed issues when changing to a different theme and our hosting company also installed a plain copy of WordPress on the same hosting package, in a subfolder and this did not show any issues with load times either.

I will provide FTP access – just to make you aware I can only unlock FTP access for 24 hours so if you need it extending please let me know.

Thanks very much for your help with this.

    Hello,

Thank you very much for sorting this out for me, the speed of the site is much better. I really appreciate your help.

I have however noticed that the social media icons in the top bar of the site are not showing correctly, can you revert this back so that it shows the correct social media icons.

    Thanks very much,
    Sami

    Hello,

    You’re welcome!
Looks like after changing theme on site to the default and back, some widgets changed their positions. You may set widgets to appropriate areas in Appearance > Widgets.

    Regards
