I have been using the reoyal theme for years ona site and just bought a new license. Can I simply instal the new version via ftp without concerns? I’m inquiring to ensure if there’s anything i need to be aware as my current theme version is at least 2 yrs old. I have the child theme running and active as modifications were made.
Also, need ti update the royal core as well? If so should I be aware of any potential hassles when updating?
Hello,
If you site is live and you want to update theme from version Version: 2.8 to the latest one I would recommend you to create staging site (full copy of the existing one) and update theme and core plugin on the staging site first. If everything is ok then proceed with the production site update. In case something goes wrong you’ll have time to fix it (especially if you overwrote some files in child theme).
If you provide us with WP Dashboard and FTP access to staging site we’ll be able to help you with theme update.
Regards
I set up a staging site using WP Staging plugin. It’s not the Pro version so we can’t push the changes to the live site but we can do what you suggest and test things before doing them on my live site.

Hello,
Check the staging site now. Let me know if everything is ok and then we’ll update the production.
