Hi,
I have read a lot of your documentation, but it hasn’t given me my answer.
I have the Royal Theme and needed to update it. I have had a developer right some css code in the – Theme options- custom css.
To update my theme- I went to APPEARANCE – Then there was a button at the top to update the Royal Theme. I clicked on that and then the theme was updated. Only to find that a lot of things on the website didn’t look right.
I then have done a system restore to bring the previous website back to what it originally looked like.
Then i have gone to the Appearance menu again and only uploaded the newest version of the child theme. Is this the right way? There is currently no errors to the site and it does look fine. But i wanted to make sure that is the right way, so i don’t experience problems in the future.
I still keep getting messages to update the theme on the top panel, while i have the new Child theme uploaded. Which makes me think that i have done the wrong thing?
Is there anything that i need to do in Woocommerce?
Many thanks for your help.
Hi,
Really appreciate your help in advance. I have been waiting patiently. Is there anyone that can help with my above post. I just need to launch my site in a few days and need to get this updating the template issue fixed.
So basically i have only uploaded the child theme zip file to the appearance menu, and not the whole royal zip file. Just wanted to make sure that is the right way, so i don’t experience problems in the future.
Hello,
If you want to update theme you don’t need to update child theme because if you have any custom code it should be placed in the child theme files, you need to update parent theme.
After theme update, you need to go to Theme Options and make sure that theme is activated with your purchase code and re-save theme options. Also, you need to do the backup of widgets that you have because sometimes widgets are messed up after theme update and you need to put them into the correct widget area again.
If you want we can help you with the theme update, just provide us FTP access to your site.

Hi thanks for your reply.
The problem that i had a few days ago, when i updated the parent theme was that nothing looked right in the website. There were things in the wrong place and things had moved. All i done was updated the Royal.zip file (parent theme) and this is what gave me problems. So then i just updated the child theme.
So just to clarify- i update the royal.zip (parent theme) file via appearance option in wordpress. Then I update the css. Where do i update the css? is it in the theme options custom css panel or do i have to do something in the cpanel? Then i make sure the theme purchase code is active. do you charge for updating the theme?
I have checked you videos and i can’t seem to find any on how to update the theme if you have custom css already on there. do you know of any videos?
thanks for your help
Hello,
1) In your case the best way to update theme is FTP. To do this you need to download the latest version of the Royal theme. Extract the archive to get royal folder. Then connect to your server via FTP. Go to wp-content/themes/royal and remove woocommerce folder. After that go to wp-content/themes/ and copy extracted folder royal to wp-content/themes/ with overwriting.
2) After that go to Theme Options > if you see the activation screen you need to use your purchase code to activate theme. If you don’t see activation screen then just re-save settings.
Theme update is free of charge, so if you provide FTP access we’ll do it ASAP for free.

Hi, Thanks for updating for theme for me. A lot of things has on the site are in wrong places or doesn’t look like it did before. I have gone into the custom css and a lot of the code has an orange triangle symbol with a explanation mark! What can i do to get it looking the way it was? I don’t want to get a developer to write some of the code all over again because there is a lot of it.
Many Thanks
Hello,
Please explain in details the desired result, we will try to help you.
Some widgets could be messed up after the update, you can put them to correct areas in Appearance > Widgets.

Hello Rose,
Please compare safari to Chrome. Chrome is the browser that doesn’t look right (amends below), But the website looks right in safari only on desktop. If you view the website on safari on mobile and iPad- Then there is a lot of spacing issues. Headings going over the menu etc..
all faults in the chrome browser.
1.All the all the social media icons at the top of the header are squashed together.
2.The youtube logo on the header menu shouldn’t have the yellow speech icon and all should be in pink.
3. The sign up and receive banner on the home page with the girl on, has its box below it and not on the banner. It should be where the pink space is.
4. On every page -There is no black banner with the newsletter wording and email sign up on bottom of page. There just is the email sign up box. The social media icons are also missing.
5. The footers at the bottom have double line breaks when they should only have one.
6. All the heading are full capitals. This is not how it was formatted.
7. when i scroll down a page half the menu bar at the top is missing. It just shows about us. Also the cart in there is not working.
8. On the customer care page. The customer care heading is hitting top menu.
Please tell me how i can fix all of these without using a developer?
Every time there is a update I am paying a developer a few hundred dollars to fix all these issues. I can’t afford to do it this time. Please tell me there is a solution. i really need to get the site launched in the next few days.
If there isn’t then i will have to restore the site back to previous update. What issues could i have by using an older version of the template?
Thanks

Hi Rose,
After clearing the cache. Most of the faults are gone, so thanks. why does this happen? I am not complaining, as very happy it nearly all looks good. Just wanted to know why it happens.
There are some screen shots that i have put below in the private section, which are for safari and chrome. They are for mobile and iPad. All it is, the content is too close the grey line (padding) or the content or image goes over the grey line. i have circled the grey line in black.
Many thanks
Lorna
Hi, Also just noticed that when you click on a product to go to its own inner page- the image does not display. This happen when you go to all inner product pages on both chrome and safari browsers.
Many thanks
Hi, Sorry also noticed that in my custom css as well on the theme. There are still orange symbols with an explanation mark. What does this mean? as it didn’t look like this before. Please see previous messages above that hold my log in details to wordpress.
thanks
Lorna
Hello,
1. Cache doesn’t relate to theme, it can be browser or server settings.
About your screenshots:
1-4) add this code in Theme Options > Custom css > Global Csutom css:
@media only screen and (max-width: 992px){
.header-wrapper .header-logo {
top: 0px;
}
.header-logo {
margin-top: -10px;
}
.header-wrapper {
padding-bottom: 40px;
}
}
2. I can see the image – http://prntscr.com/jpfvkz
3. You may ignore these symbols, or hover over it and follow recommendations – http://prntscr.com/jpfw9y (this is notice, not an error).

Hi,
on my contact page i am having a problem stretching a banner to be full width of the page. I have made the row a single image and added the image and put the image size at 3200×650 pixels. In the single image setting i have put these sizes in. on the “row setting” above i have tried “stretched row” and “stretched row and content”. Can you help the image still isn’t full width of the page. is there anywhere else that i need to amend?
Please see link below in private for the image.
Many Thanks
Hello,
Something was wrong with the parent theme. We re-uploaded source file and row option works fine.
Regards
Hi Olga,
When you say “We re-uploaded source file and row option works fine.” does this mean to my own website or do i need to update the whole template again?
I have gone on the page that needed a full width banner and it is currently not showing anything in visual composer. it is just blank.
I have put my details below.
Hello,
You don’t need to update theme, we did it for you.
http://prntscr.com/kjbb2g I don’t see any problems with page editing.
