We are trying to get everything up to date to be able to upgrade to the latest woocommerce version 3.5.1 so that we are good to go for the release of wordpress 5.0 this month.

Are there any key things which need to be addressed when going from version 4.27 to 5.1.1 ? Obviously we will do a full site backup and such, but I just wanted to make sure that if there were any special items that we addressed those during or before the update before we update the theme.

We are running the child theme so there have been no core theme file changes made.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

XStore 5.0 is major update and we have changed a lot of things https://xstore.8theme.com/update-history/ including theme styles. For example, we removed some headers types in 5 version of our theme, because they were very similar, and added new settings in Theme Options http://prntscr.com/lhpe2p
Child theme files should be updated according to new files.
Here you can find video How to update theme from 4.x to 5.x – https://youtu.be/I7wPeHEPb6E
To update the theme you can create a staging site (a full copy of live site) and update xstore there. Then, if everything is ok, update the production site.

    Regards

    Hello,

Thank you for the information. One specific item I am concerned about are the theme options settings. I understand we create a staging server so data is accessible, but can we simply export the Theme Options settings JSON file from 4.27 and then go into 5.1.1 and import the saved JSON file? Or do we have to go back in and manually reconfigure all colors, fonts, paddings, etc…in the new theme options panel?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

    Yes, you can.
After updating the theme and Core plugin via FTP, your settings won’t be lost. But the styling of some parts on the site can be changed due to our improvement.
Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

    Regards
