When installing a theme on WordPress and uploading the Xstore installation file, the message “The link you followed has expired” keeps appearing.
How can this be resolved?
Hello, Mei Huang,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
If you are encountering the message “The link you followed has expired” while attempting to install the XStore theme on WordPress, this issue is typically related to the server’s PHP configuration settings, such as upload size or execution time limits. To resolve this, please follow the steps below:
1/ Increase PHP Limits – https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/theme-installation/xstore-theme-requirements/
Your hosting provider can do this for you.
2/ Install the Theme via FTP – https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/theme-installation/theme-installation/
If adjusting the PHP settings does not resolve the issue, you can manually upload the theme using an FTP client:
– Extract the XStore theme ZIP file on your computer.
– Use an FTP client (e.g., FileZilla) to upload the extracted theme folder to the /wp-content/themes/ directory on your server.
– Once uploaded, activate the theme from your WordPress dashboard under **Appearance > Themes**.
3/ Contact Your Hosting Provider:
If you are unable to modify the PHP settings or upload the theme via FTP, we recommend reaching out to your hosting provider for assistance. They can help adjust the server settings or guide you through the process.
If you continue to experience issues, please do not hesitate to contact us with additional details, and we will be happy to assist further.
Best regards,
8Theme’s Team
