    Hello 8Team,

I hope my message finds you well.

I received a message from Envato Account asking me to update the Visual Composer WordPress plugin to version 4.7.4, because of multiple XSS security vulnerabilities in versions prior.

I downloaded the new file and uploaded via my ftp file management client. However, when I tried to update the plugin in WordPress as advised by the Envato instructions I was prompted by the message “Invalide key. Please check information in your envato profile.”

I read the Visual Composer notes and apparently only the only option is “…to wait on your WordPress theme author to update Visual Composer on their side and push it to you.” – which is you.

Please can you confirm when you will roll out the updated Visual Composer plugin as part of the Legenda Theme, as I would like for my file to be as update and secure as possible.

    See URL: https://wpbakery.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=524337

    2. On another note. I have changed my theme blog layout named ‘News & Reviews’ to a grid format. Is there a way to change the grid layout so that it is a 3 column display instead of 2 please?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards,

    MthePro.

    Hello,

Please update the theme to the latest version.
Before update delete “woocommerce” folder in the directory wp-content/themes/legenda/ and it’ll be reuploaded from a new theme package.
Also update all required plugins https://www.8theme.com/download-plugins/ .

Don’t forget to create back up of your files and database before starting update process!

    Best regards,
    Jack Richardson.

    Hello Jack,

    Thank you for the message.

I have received the following messages:

    Error establishing a database connection

    and

    wp_posts: Table ‘mthepro1_MTP.wp_posts’ doesn’t exist
    wp_options: Table ‘mthepro1_MTP.wp_options’ doesn’t exist
    wp_commentmeta: Table ‘mthepro1_MTP.wp_commentmeta’ doesn’t exist

I made the wp-config.php file amendment adding to line 95 code edit:
    define(‘WP_ALLOW_REPAIR’, true);

I have researched on the WordPress Support Forum to confirm whether there was a virus or not.

On this basis I will upload the Legenda 2.9.2 theme as recommended and reinstall the required plugins.

Sorry to see there is only 5 months of support remaining.

I will confirm when resolved unless there are any other important updates for me.

As I need to know what caused this and how I can have a solution in place sooner.

    Best regards,

    Hello,

The error “Error establishing a database connection” is related to your database configuration. You need to contact your hosting provider to check it.

    Best regards,
    Jack Richardson.

    Hello Eva and thank you.

    My hosting provider confirmed

“…on 13/10 there was a catastrophic failure of caching device installed on MySQL server that led to inconsistency of the underlying file system. Lately we have been working on data recovery but despite our hardest attempts only partial recovery was possible.

Unfortunately, this may occur and we also rely on the user to have a backup of their own (using the corresponding cPanel functionality).

We do care about the issue, but we have no way for further data recovery at this point.
If you have ever made a MySQL backup in cPanel, we will assist with restoring it.

I am potentially seeking a new hosting provider, recommendations welcome.

You may wish to secure your servers and IT systems –

I occasionally work with a company called Gold Lock Enterprises who specialise in encryption software for phones and I.T. equipment – you may wish to check them out.

Once the MthePro.com site is up and running properly again, I will give them your company details if you feel they are relevant (they outperform all the best security software services commercially available).

    Best regards,

    Hello Jack,

    Thank you for your message.

I have uploaded the Legenda theme update via FTP.

I noticed I have a woocommerce folder in the /wp-content/themes/legenda theme folder and the wp-content/plugins folder.

Which one do you recommend I should keep please?

    Hello 8Theme,

My host has managed to upload a back up of my site from May 2015.

I completed the Legenda Theme and plugins update today.

However, although the blog provides a grid layout, the option to create a 3 column view is not visible. Please kindly confirm how I can create the 3 column view, the blog is in a 2 column format at present.

Also the Visual Composer version is now 4.7.4. However, the plugins page has a news flash requesting an update to version 4.8, will you be upgrading the theme again?

    Your support is much appreciated.

    Hello Jack,

    Thank you for your message.

I have downloaded the Visual Composer 4.8 and will upload the file to the FTP shortly.

Yes, you may reupload the theme especially if this will remedy the grid post situation to 3 coloumns.

I have a holding page up at the moment, so please keep that up on exiting the admin dashboard.

    I appreciate your support.

    Hello Jack,

    Thank you for looking into.

Once the plugins deactivated. Where will I be able to find the option to amend the grid layout on the posts page to 3 please?

I will action the amendment if you confirm.

    Kind regards,

    Hello,

By default 3 items per row are shown in Grid view.
You have only 2 items because some plugin is causing it.
So you need to disable 3rd-party plugins.

    Best regards,
    Jack Richardson.

    Hello Jack,

    Thank you for your message.

    Located and deactivated the plugin.

    Solution request:

I created 2 new pages – news and reviews both with the blog template.

    1. However, when I create a text box to include H1 to H6 descriptive text about each page, the text does not show on the front end of either page.

    2. I allocated different categories to each post so that they are only shown on either the news or reviews page but not both. They still are shown on both at present. I am grateful if you would confirm the best way to proceed with the current requirement.

    3. Please kindly confirm whether it will be possible to add new products to the shop page above any new text box creations. Currently, any new text boxes are inserted above the product grid.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Henry

    Hello,

    1. As I see h5 style text is visible on “News” page:
    http://storage8.static.itmages.com/i/15/1123/h_1448275494_7955995_660e4d9111.png

    2. Go show different categories you need remove “Reviews” page from posts page in Settings > Reading, because you show posts using Post Grid element in Visual Composer editor, so you don’t need default posts page by WordPress.

    3. Sorry, but there is no such option.

    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.
