An error occurred while updating Woopress Core: The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature.

This is a fresh install, everything else installed, no problem.

I have the exact same error message which made me pay for another support year. Wondering what this is
“Update Failed: The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature”
    What can we do?

    Hello, @Degreeck

Make sure you have checked all the server requirements before the installation https://www.8theme.com/demo/docs/woopress/Theme_Installation/Theme_Requirements.html
In case if automatic plugin installation fails (as a rule it is because of your server settings), you can install them manually via your Dashboard: Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin > Browse plugins archives. Or via FTP, by uploading and extracting the plugin zip files into wp-content/plugins folder. You can find the zip files for plugins installation here – https://www.8theme.com/downloads/
If you need to update the Core plugin, you can just delete the old version and install a new one via Dashboard or FTP.

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

    Regards

    Hello, @Webdesignangelo

You can update the plugin manually, download the latest version from this page – https://www.8theme.com/downloads/
    or: deactivate and delete the existing version of the core plugin via Dashboard; > Appearance > Install plugins > install core plugin again and you’ll get the latest version;
or follow our documentation and do the update via FTP –https://www.8theme.com/demo/docs/woopress/Plugins/Plugins_Update

    Regards

Ok, so I downloaded the WooPress core folder, uninstalled (deleted the previously installed version) from my back end (cPanel). I then re-installed the plugin by uploading the folder from my WP admin dashboard. All was well, but I received an alert that there was an update available for the WooPress core plugin. I proceeded to select “update now”. This returned an error Update Failed: The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature .
I searched Google and some causes to this issue are:

    1. Not enough space on disc – N/A, I have used 240mb/5gig (new website)
    2. PhP has to be version 7+. N/A, my version 7.2.20

A solution to a similar problem:
The person downloaded the most recent version of the plugin(It was Jetpack) from source and installed it via FTP.
I can not test this as I do not know where the source folder of the most recent version can be downloaded. The one I was pointed to was downloaded and installed perfectly, but gave an “update is available” alert. This leads me to conclude that the folder on this website needs to be replaced by its latest version/I need to be pointed to the source where I can download the original folder from the plugin developer myself.

    Hello, @Degreeck

The latest version of the Core plugin is 1.1.0, it is available via Appearance > Install plugins or on this page – https://www.8theme.com/downloads/
If you face the message about the available update, even with 1.1.0 version installed, provide us with temporary wp-admin and FTP access http://prntscr.com/otwkdf

I have also tried installing the woopress core plugin 1.1.0 via ftp in my dev environment as part of my Woopress 6.0 update testing.

It fails on trying to create the directory; woopress-core/inc/img. however I could see that the img directory was created on the server (it is empty)

I have downloaded the file again, extracted and tried uploading again ,same result.

I have also tried by same method as previous posters via plugins menu on dashboard and get the same error message as they have reported.

I then tried deactivating the plugin and then updating it (got the same ftp error) and then activating. This time it is now showing as 1.1.0 and active! The img directory is created and still empty.

Anyway, thought I would pass this on in case it helps others. Will carry on testing …..

PS My environment shows as meeting all system requirements in the new theme dashboard.

    Cheers.
