Hello,
i have tried to translate the frontend of my shop to German and wasn’t successful with the translation files provided via https://www.8theme.com/glotpress/projects/xstore/
My goal is not to translate the backend or any area the visitors don’t see. I just want to translate the visible part in our shop.
What is the easiest and most efficient way to translate the English to German?
I have already tried POEdit, LocoTranslate and TranslatePress but I was not successful or wasn’t able to perform the file update successfully.
A multilanguage solution is not required by now. So a frontend plugin like TranslatePress is not a sufficient solution. We want to get rid of the English alltogether.
Thank you very much for your support!
Hello,
1/ After uploading the translation files of the theme (with the correct name – your language name and xstore theme suffix, e.g xstore-de_DE.po) into the correct location ( /wp-content/languages/themes/ folder) you need to sync the translation https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/theme-translation/translation-files-update/ and then manually translate strings that are untranslated still. Do the same for XStore Core plugin (/wp-content/languages/plugins folder).
2/ You need to translate WooCommerce also – https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-localization/

Hello Rose,
thanks for your reply. Some of the file locations haven’t been correct. I have changed that now to your instructions.
Many strings are still not translated. For example in the attached screenshot, all the buttons are still in English.
I can’t find these strings in the Xstore files or the WooCommerce file respectively.
How can I reach these strings and change them to German in one sweep?
Thank you!
Hello,
Pre-created files contain not all strings, and you need to continue translation manually – search and translate strings one by one.
If you can’t find some of them, provide temporary wp-admin access, and we will try to help you. Also, provide desired texts for translation.

Hello Rose,
I need support with translating the frontend strings, e.g.:
Home page:
– View all
– Add to cart
– View details
– Grab offer
– Discover
– Buy now
Please help me find the source of these strings and I can translate them by myself. I am not able to identify their source.
Thank you!
Hello @Lucas Bischoff,
“View all”- edit page using Elementor – https://prnt.sc/z-zZiyKKElIB , “View details” – https://prnt.sc/EDeUmkGnkhy1 , “Grab offer” – https://prnt.sc/lwPyCR2BAf9y , same for “Discover” and “Buy now”.
“Add to cart” – translation of the theme, Core, WooCommerce. As I can see, mentioned strings were translated, but it doesn’t work. Please clear all cache including CDN. If this doesn’t help, provide FTP access, so we can re-create .pot files for the theme and Core plugin.
If you do not know how to create FTP contact with your hosting provider, they will help you.
Regards
Thank you very much!
Clearing the cache helped with the already translated strings, I will do the rest manually.
Thanks for your support!
